A Vampire captured by her wildest fantasy...
Sheltered Emmaline Tory finally sets out to uncover the truth about her deceased parents- until a powerful Lykae claims her has his mate and forces her back to his ancestral Scottish castle. There, her hear of the Lykae- and their notorious dark desires- ebbs as he begins a slow, wicked seduction to sate her own dark cravings.
An all-consuming desire...
Yet when an ancient evil from her past resurfaces, will their desire deepen into a love that bring a proud warrior to his knees and turn a gentle beauty into the fighter she was born to be?
I’m beyond elated that I came across this series via twitter excitement. Kresley Cole has created a brilliant world-full of Lykae, Valkyrie, Demons, Vamps, Witches etc. I’m just sad I didn’t know if it sooner!
This first full book -there is an anthology which contains the first story in the series- its quick pace and rapid action sucked me in. This book is STEAMY and HOT! I can’t really say anything more about that.
The characters are well developed and a bond is created between the reader and the person narrating. I found myself extremely drawn to Emma, simply because of her age (not her chronological age of course). Although at times I found myself insanely frustrated with her. I felt that a lot of her decisions were focused on her family. I also found her whinny at times. It has everything to do with absolutely nothing to do with the gorgeous Lykae who wants to mate her *jealous*
Lachlain is a tortured soul. He’s literally been tortured for 15 decades and finally finds his mate only to be laughed at by the fates - she is a vampire after all, and we all know that vamps and weres don’t really mesh well.
There is a lot of adversary that the two protagonists have to overcome throughout the duration of the novel. This is what keeps the story interesting from start to finish. Their relationship is definitely complex.
Bowen was fantastic. As the depressed Lykae and cousin of Lachlain who non of the clan can understand, he still manages to try and fix things to make others have the happiness that he himself is not allowed to have. Nix is crazy but you can’t help but love her.
Kresley Cole’s writing is insanely good and the different perspectives kept me entertained throughout. It allows the reader to engage with all characters in the novel. You never find yourself wondering what is going on in the others head, because Kresley tells you. It was a wonderful feeling to not be left in the dark.
