I first fell in love with Lenah, Rhode and Vicken in Infinite Days. An emotional roller coaster, Infinite Days was a story in which I found myself completely compelled by. At the time in which this novel was read I was so eager to get my hands on a copy of Stolen Nights, but it wasn’t in ARC circulation and it wouldn’t be published until January 2012. Well we are now in 2013 and I have just finished reading this second installment in Rebecca Maizel’s Vampire Queen series.
Trying to get through the first couple of chapters -- after having read Infinite Days two years prior -- was a challenge. I was struggling to find the emotional connection that was so instantaneous when I read the opening chapters of Infinite Days. Once I was able to re-enter into Lenah’s crazy human life I was able to immerse myself fully into the story. As Stolen Nights begins to take flight we are quickly reminded how Lenah’s life was turned upside down with the sudden return of Rhode, her true love; her soul mate. Not only is Lenah still trying to figure life out as a human, she now has her soul mate back in her life, just as her relationship with Justin has taken off.
I am a Rhode lover. No offence to any Justin fans out there, but it’s hard to contend with that all encompassing, can’t live without each other love we all hope to find one day. Now that Rhode is alive and well we really get to see his anguish and hurt over Lenah and all that they must face in Stolen Nights. The relationship between Lenah and Rhode is heartbreaking. I silently cheered -- and sometimes out loud -- that Rhode would wake up and the two of them would ride off towards the sunset together.
That isn’t the case.
Lenah, Rhode and Vicken have many trials and tribulations they must overcome during the duration of this novel. Rebecca Maizel does not make their journey easy and that is precisely why this novel was so well delivered. The characters develop throughout and they all must come to terms with how different and difficult life as a human will be. They are still mourning over the loss of Tony in Infinite Days, and they are struggling, deep within themselves to protect those they love while protecting themselves.

The love for Stolen Nights came with time. As I grew more attached to the direction in which the story was taking and became more engrossed with the read, I slowly started loving it.
I will say this: Stolen Nights left me craving more Lenah, Rhode and Vicken!
If you are a fan of star crossed lovers, vampires, a well written novel and simply an enjoyable read, I recommend you pick up Stolen Nights. If you haven't read Infinite Days yet, here's my review: Infinite Days Review. Go pick up a copy. I don't think you'll be disappointed!
