A seductive beauty he can never have, yet can't resist...
Cade of the rage demons will stop at nothing to atone for the one wrong that will haunt him forever. But once he secures the key to his redemption, the halfling Holly Ashwin, Cade finds that the woman he thought he could use for his own ends and then forget haunts him as much as his past.

A tormented warrior she should fear, but can't deny...
Raised as a human, Holly Ashwin never knew that some frightening legends are real until she encounters a brutal demon who inexplicably guards her like a treasure. Thrust into a sensual new world of myth and power, with him as her protector, she begins to crave the demon’s wicked touch.

Surrender to dark desires...
Yet just when he earns Holly’s trust, will Cade be forced to betray the only woman who can sate his wildest needs—and claim his heart?

Dark Desires After Dusk marks the 5th installment in the Immortals After Dark series. This book follows Cadeon -the rage demon- after the Hie. Now in the Hie, Cade was an arrogant ass. I actually couldn't stand him. They were all stuck and you just know in the back of his mind he was thinking of ways to sleep with Mari. I was not a fan. So to say I was apprehensive to begin this book would be a huge understatement. Within in the beginning pages however, I already found myself warming up to this sexual deviant. His past is sad. Rydstrom, being the older brother and King, was given all of the luxuries in which king hood entails. Cadeon however, was sent off to live with a foster family (who he adored) that could never teach him the ways of a king.

His sadness in the fact that he wasn't as educated as his brother plays out through the entirety of the novel. Not only was his brother privileged, his fated female is beyond brilliant. Cade actually impressed me a lot with the lengths he was willing to go to impress his female. That brings me to Holly. I adored the little hafling! She has much to overcome and she does so with flying colours. Her OCD is cute and the fact that Cade loves her so intensely and entirely makes your heart leap from its chest. I think she has it in her to be as fierce as Kaderin but as soft and caring as Emmaline. The back and forth banter between Cadeon and Holly was tantalizingly hilarious!!Some of the best dialogue yet. It reminded me a lot of Bowen and Mariketa :)

The book also sets up Rydstrom's book and we get to see more of Nix. Nix exudes hilarity. Where Nix is, hilarity is to be endured. I love her crazy soothsaying ways and I can't wait to read her own romance story. My favourite scene with Nix comes towards the end of the book. She deserves some good in her life. We are also introduced to Roc, and he should be getting his own book. He has a lot of problems right now with the Swimbo's- yikes! So I'm eager to see how his story plays out.

This book ended up being one of my favourites. There was action from start to finish and as the reader there was never a moment I didn't feel satisfied. Dark Desires gives you everything a book could give- romance, intrigue, betrayal, passionate and heart stopping sex. Cade's constantly conflicted and his torture makes the novel. There is a lot of struggle which takes place by both Cade and Holly. I enjoyed the plot immensely. I would highly recommend this book to Paranormal Romance lovers and people who just enjoy a good love story. You just have to get past the whole horn thing.
